About Tru Count
In 1982, father and son team Glen and Tom Dillman, respectively, developed a basic mechanical acre counter to accurately keep track of the number of acres planted. This marked the beginning of a company that would later become known throughout the agriculture community for developing precision planting solutions.
In 1986, Jeff Dillman joined his father and brother and created the electric Conser Clutch to divide planters in half, thirds, or quarters. The Conser Clutch offers farmers a reliable means of saving seed by reducing the amount of over planting that typically happens in irregular fields. Less over planting means less input costs while planting as well as higher yields at harvest time. Conser Clutches have been installed as original equipment by major planter manufacturers worldwide since the early 1990's.
The Air Clutch was released in 2006. An innovation that advanced efficiency in the precision planting industry, the Air Clutch has become essential for farmers who are looking for the most advanced technology for precision planting. Activated by a GPS signal, this system allows farmers to control each planter row individually, resulting in the most precise row shutoff available. Individual row control makes fields of any size and shape more profitable.
Jeff Dillman of Tru Count currently holds six patents.
In October 2008, Trimble Navigation Limited acquired the assets of Tru Count.
The Ames, Iowa, facility continues to manufacture the air and electric clutches.
